The Process
Research & Insights: Understanding User Behavior
A user-centered approach was critical in designing FemCare AI. Extensive research was conducted, including: – User interviews with women to understand their biggest healthcare challenges. – Surveys to gauge interest in AI-driven health assistance. – Competitor analysis to identify gaps in existing femtech solutions.
Key Findings: ✔ 65% of users preferred a digital-first approach for sensitive health topics. ✔ 87% expressed frustration with long clinic wait times. ✔ 79% showed interest in purchasing health kits online if provided with expert-backed recommendations.
These insights shaped the core features of the platform, ensuring that it met the real needs of its target audience.
Design Solutions: Making Healthcare More Accessible
The design focused on three key pillars: Conversational AI for Health Guidance – A virtual health assistant was designed to provide instant answers to common health questions. – AI-driven responses were crafted to be empathetic, informative, and easy to understand.
Smart Period & Health Tracker – A personalized period tracking system was developed to help users monitor cycles and symptoms. – Data-driven insights allow users to anticipate and manage health patterns effectively.
Integrated E-Commerce for Women’s Health Needs – A seamless shopping experience was designed for purchasing period care, pregnancy kits, and menopause essentials. – Secure checkout and subscription options were implemented for convenience and affordability.
Each feature was designed with usability, accessibility, and personalization in mind to create a holistic digital healthcare experience.
In 2020, I worked as a product designer for Infusync healthcare where we designed solutions to healthcare challenges in Nigeria. We had researched to find out that doctors in private and public hospitals had issues meeting the expected productivity level because they spent more time on documentation and record-keeping rather than attending to patients. This feature aims to help doctors to be faster and more productive when seeing patients. I worked on this feature alone using the design thinking agile process below.
